Inspection of a new family house

This house is built of a 40 cm blocks similar to Ytong without additional thermal insulations of the walls.

Shortly after the construction was completed, we provided a survey of a family house using a professional infrared camera. Several major and minor issues were discovered.

A garage has a heating, but its door wasn’t properly insulation for rather cold climate conditions and it may cause significant heat loss

Main door. From the inner side using IR camera we can easily see the sealing is not tight.

A house’s heating is arranged with warm floor with liquid heating agent. It makes inner conditions comfortable. But the foundation plate was not properly insulated.

Infrared camera can quickly indicate where the heating pipes located in case you need to make a hole. If there is a leak of heating agent it would also be seen.

Minor problem in the upper corner caused by lack of ceiling insulation may in reality appear bigger. Such tests better to combine with blower door test and look with IR camera from the lower pressure side. The problem could be better seen from the other side.

Also, we discovered some problems with ceiling insulation from an attic. Looks like during construction period insulation mats were exposed to excessive humidity. And after they dried up some gaps appeared on the edges of each of them. Unfortunately, the construction was completed before the house was purchased. And now this problem to be solved on the owner’s expenses. We would recommend such efficient insulation as Isynene spread foam insulation.
